San Diego offers three family friendly coastal communities with good schools and after school sports, along with many short-term vacation rentals.
La Jolla (upscale Single Family homes, few condos and apartments),
Pacific Beach (hi-end to reasonable SF homes, many condos and apartments),
Ocean Beach (hi-end to reasonable SF homes, few condos, many apartments, hippy vibe),
Mission Beach is saturated with short-term vacation rentals. The elementary school and library closed years ago.
